The One of Us 10th Anniversary in Paris
This Saturday evening, the One of Us Federation celebrated its 10th anniversary in the heart of Paris. The event, attended by pro-life advocates from across Europe, was a poignant reflection on the federation’s achievements and an inspiring call to continue defending human dignity and the right to life.
Honoring Commitment to Life
One of the evening’s highlights was the presentation of the One of Us Award to Jaime Mayor Oreja, President of the NEOS Foundation and Honorary President of our federation. Mayor Oreja has been a steadfast advocate for life and human dignity, as well as a defender of Europe cultural roots. His unwavering commitment was central to the success of the European Citizens’ Initiative, which gathered over two million signatures across the EU in 2014 to protect prenatal life. Accepting the award, Mayor Oreja stated, “The defense of life is not just a cause; it is a responsibility that defines the very identity of Europe”.
Reflections on the Past and a Vision for the Future
Former President of One of Us Marina Casini delivered an emotive speech recalling the federation’s founding principles. She emphasized the central role of the human person in Europe’s cultural and political life. Current President Tonio Borg reaffirmed this vision, stressing the need to remain vigilant in defending human dignity amid modern ethical challenges.
A Literary Tribute to the Cause
In celebration of the tenth anniversary, the Movimento per la Vita, a founding member of One of Us, presented a specially prepared book, One of Us: The Person in the Very Heart of Europe. The publication explores the writings of Carlo Casini, founder of One of Us, as the philosophical and ethical foundations of the pro-life movement while celebrating the federation’s decade-long advocacy. It serves as both a commemoration of past efforts and a guide for future initiatives. You can request an exemplary to ordini@mpv.org.
