(Sir Europe – Bratislava) – “It is important that Christians express their opinion aloud in public, to draw attention to basic truths about human life, its dignity, family and marriage”, writes Mons. Stanislav Zvolenský, president of the Bishops’ Conference of Slovakia, in an appeal published today on the occasion of the forthcoming First National March for Life, due to be held on 22 September in Kosice. As he continues, the event has a significant importance in the current period of time when the National Strategy on Protection and Support of Human Rights in Slovakia is being prepared by the government. Mons. Zvolenský points to the differences in attitudes towards the document and towards the issue of protection of human life by various groups present in public life and invites to a “peaceful dialogue, without attacks, defamation or insulting of people with different opinions”. Let the forthcoming National March for Life be a “celebration of life of all the people of good will in the Slovak Republic”, concludes the appeal. Organizers are expecting about 50,000 people to participate in the event. Apart from the march itself, the program which starts tomorrow will include various workshops, cultural performances and discussions.
