The recently constituted Asamblea por la Vida has called on the senators not to allow the legalization of Euthanasia in our country. After the rule of the PSOE and Podemos government has been approved in Congress, it will be debated soon in the Senate. He reminds the honorable Members that “it is your responsibility to represent our society with a very important singularity. You have been chosen in a personal capacity. The voters have voted for each of you, indicating their preference on your behalf. You are not people who are part of a closed and blocked list. You have a direct, personal responsibility with each and every one of the electors of your constituency, and for this reason you do not owe yourself to any other imperative mandate than that of your conscience. We appeal to her in the processing of the euthanasia law ”. It warns all of them that “to legislate on death, when Spain is experiencing the deadliest time after the aftermath of the Civil War, when this mortality, more than 80,000 people, punishes especially people over 65 years of age, in Instead of legislating to improve prevention, control and health benefits, it is a scandal and a serious irresponsibility ”. They also criticize that the law eliminates any reference and conditionality of euthanasia “to the availability of palliative care services available to the entire population, which requires a three and a half times its current and underdeveloped services.”
º Encourage the presentation of the unconstitutionality appeal by the competent authorities, and study the possibility of presenting an own appeal through the Ombudsman.
º Assess the presentation of a Popular Legislative Initiative to achieve a Comprehensive Law of Palliative Care, whose services are prior and mandatory to any request for euthanasia.
rd Organize a major event to reject the law and demand palliative care, within the framework of the security conditions that the prevention and fight against Covid-19 requires, and our responsibility towards life demands.
th Promote, within the framework of the Assembly of Associations, citizen objection to the application of the law.
