The President of the Republic of Portugal, Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa, has sent the Euthanasia Law to the Constitutional Court to review its constitutionality.This judicial instance must review the Law proposed by the Congress of Portugal. The more than reasonable doubts about the constitutionality of the Law raise the hope that this law could be rejected. The actions of the groups that defend the dignity of life, together with health professionals and personalities from the legal and academic fields have claimed to their legislators that it is not the role of the State to kill . All of them together with a big majority of Portuguese citizens are now waiting for the judicial decision to be taken by its Constitutional Court . Portuguese society now places its trustthat the court’s decision will be respectful with the Portuguese legal system and with the dignity of every and each human life specially in the final step or with special needs due to illness or disability.
