Parallel with a Croatian accession to the European Union on 1st July 2013 the Croatian citizens can participate in the European Citizens Initiative – a form of participatory democracy in the European Union. The first such initiative is «One of us» (in Croatian: „Jedan od nas“) that aims to protect human life from conception in the area of EU competence.
From now on Croatian citizens can sign the Initiative by visiting the official website www.oneofusappeal.eu/hr/ in Croatian language. Simple clicking on the green button «POTPIŠI» redirects to the website of the European Commission where it is possible to fill required personal data.
All Croatian citizens who have personal identification number (OIB) can sign the Initiative no matter if they live in Croatia or abroad. Also there is a possibility of signing on paper form.
The deadline for all countries of the European Union is 1st November 2013. For the success of the Initiative it is necessary to collect one million valid signatures of the citizens of European Union.
Croatian Alliance for Life CRO-VITA (www.crovita.hr), the national alliance of pro-life organization, is in charge for the organization of the Initiative in Croatia.
