The ONE OF US Federation welcomes the U.S. Senate Decision to de-fund Planned Parenthood Federation of America and calls for European investigations
In the wake of the recent revelations on the scandal of organ and baby-parts trafficking by the Planned Parenthood Federation of America (PPFA), an affiliate of International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF) American affiliate, the US Senate passed a bill to de-fund Planned Parenthood. This bill would block for one year at least 89% of federal funding of Planned Parenthood America, corresponding to over 500 millions dollars annually (Source: Washington Post, Heritage Foundation).
The ONE OF US Federation welcomes this strong response, and all efforts stop the human body’s trafficking revealed those past months, and limit its international consequences. As the largest European Citizen’s Initiative to date that gathered over 1.8 Million signatures across Europe, ONE OF US had specifically alerted on the risks and tragedy of programs presupposing the destruction of human embryos, namely the research on human embryos and EU funded programs in developing countries including abortion. By selling organs and parts from aborted babies, the IPPF American affiliate has brought to light the risks and abuses of the abortion industry, and confirmed the rightful demand by European citizens to European authorities to stop supporting those practices.
Although President Barack Obama has threatened to veto the bill, this is a strong signal to European leaders to support current calls for a proper investigation on IPPF at the EU and Member States level. IPPF implications in the alleged traffic, European tax payers money direct or indirect support to it, and similar abuses in Europe should be investigated.
In response, the ONE OF US Federation launches two major initiatives:
- The Federation started the “Appeal of Experts” who affirm that the ONE OF US initiative calls for a key and legitimate action – to limit EU funding to ethical programs which do not imply the destruction of human embryos – in their own fields of expertise which should be back on the table of European democracy. All professionals in health, legal or political fields are welcome to join them:
- The Federation announces the ONE OF US Forum in Paris, France, on the 12th of March The Forum will gather over 1000 participants and focus on the implications of this scandal in Europe and other cutting-edge human rights issues.
Finally, the ONE OF US Federation calls its members and supporters to join the social media campaign calling for de-funding IPPF and all organizations involved in this scandal. More information here:
