On Thursday, 27th June 2013 an extraordinary session of the Assembly of the Croatian Alliance for Life CRO-VITA, took place in Zagreb, the Capital of Croatia. The Alliance has 15 ordinary and associate members. All of them are NGOs that are committed to the protection of human life from conception to natural death. The main reason for convening the Assembly of the Alliance was discussion and decision-making processes related to the involvement of the Alliance in the European Citizens’ Initiative “One of Us”. After presentation of the objectives and content of the ECI followed the discussion that led to unanimous decision that CRO-VITA Alliance takes the leading role for promoting organizing the “One of us” in the Republic of Croatia. Also, it was decided that the Presidency of the Alliance becomes the operating body for organizations of the Initiative together with a representative of the World Youth Alliance in Croatia. Indeed, all those who are willing to contribute to the success of the initiative in Croatia are very welcome.
President of CRO-VITA prof. Jasenka Markeljević, M.D., Ph.D. was elected as the representative in the International Committee of ECI, where as Mr. Vladimir Marić, executive director of CRO-VITA was appointed for a operational implementation. Furthermore, it was decided that the name of the initiative in Croatian language is “Jedan od nas”. Also, the members agreed on details related to the completion of the necessary translation and editing of texts for Croatian version of the Initiative website, in order to make it functional as soon as the European Commission approves the Croatian participation in Initiative.
