Europe needs a sincere and honest debate about values. Beyond the political union and the single market, the European Union is also a matter of values. Thanks to the EU Charter of Fundamental Rights, legally binding since 2009, Europeans are guaranteed the exercise of their fundamental rights and freedoms, an objective for which not only European institutions but also European citizens must work.
The conference on “European Values Observatory: Europe and its identity in the 21st century”, within the Week for Life 2020 organized by the Bioethics Group od EPP Group in the European Parliament raises the current analysis of the situation of fundamental values in Europe, as well as the necessary measures for a real approach to the values of the Union as the founding fathers established as the basis of the EU.
